Michel Bourez
Michel Bourez doesn’t just surf waves, he decimates them.
Nicknamed “The Spartan” for his striking resemblance to King Leonidas, Michel Bourez uses his flawless technique and shredded physique to destroy every wave that he slides into. Often touted as the most powerful surfer on tour, he puts everything he’s got into his patented frontside rail gouge. We almost feel sympathetic for the poor waves he chooses to ride.
Most surfers flow along a wave face, matching the pace and power with fluidity. Michel’s approach is far more intense than that. Honing his ability over the razor sharp reefs in Tahiti,
Michel pushes on rail harder than anyone.
His raw and aggressive style out powers his opponents resulting in contest wins around the world. It’s clear his approach was honed over razor sharp reefs across the Tahitian archipelago, matching the force of nature, the beauty of nature with all the power of will.
Michel was one of the first surfers on our team to figure out his optimal Ride Number. Depending on the conditions, He surfs the Eric Arakawa template in a multitude of constructions. He rides them in fibreglass when the waves require extra hold and drive, in Blackstix when he needs to generate more speed and Techflex for everything in between. His decisiveness in fin selection is the foundation of our range. The conditions decide the ride.
